Kay Westberry is the construction coordinator. A semi-custom home has more moving parts than a home built off a fixed plan: structural changes get approved, the drawings move, and the schedule, the trades and the paperwork all have to move with them. Coordination is the work that keeps those pieces in step, so the people on site can get on with building.
That is one of four jobs on the construction team — two project managers, a construction assistant and a coordinator — at a company building in Sarasota, Venice and Bradenton.
Four is a small number, and it shows in how the work gets done. Sam Rodgers Homes has been family-owned since 1968 and is three generations in. It is why the person who sold you the home is still here when the warranty question comes up four years later.
